Oh Hey Friday

Ah glorious Friday.  So happy you're here.

Let's get right to it today shall we?  Here are my 4 favorites and 1 not so favorite thing (or is it things?) from this week!

[one]  I designed my blogger business cards for the Thrive Blog Conference!!  I love the way they turned out and cannot wait to see them in person.  Only 3 weeks until the conference!!!

[two] I started a new book series that I'm completely in love with.  The series itself is called Throne of Glass and has 4 books.  But I started with the prequels and am so glad I did.  I cannot wait to get into the actual books themselves.

[three] Yesterday was "Friends Day" and in honor of the day Facebook put together a little video slideshow of all the pictures of your friends and I thought it was absolutely perfect.  Seeing my video and the videos of some of my friends was so fun.  I'm so grateful for all the amazing friends I have around the country!

[four] Jenny found the most gorgeous grey chairs for me at Marshall's this week and I bought them.  I'm seriously so obsessed with them and cannot wait to see these little beauties in my new apartment.  Now to find a way to keep the cats off them until I can get them in the apartment.  I have a strong feeling I will lose that battle though! I was gonna wait and show them off once they were in and styled but I just can't wait.

[five] Work was a bit difficult this week.  This is by no means a "favorite" but it's something that happened that I feel like I need to write about.   Some of the students at my school created teacher Instagram account.  It sounds sweet and innocent but in reality what they did was take pictures from our Facebook (Im still trying to figure out how they accessed mine, since I have all the privacy settings they have in place) and wrote mean, inappropriate, and sometimes disgusting things about us.  I've come to the decision that I am the most popular teacher at my school because I had not 1, not 2, but 4 pictures of me on there. With some not so nice things said about me.  I'm not going to say what exactly was said but I will say that my feelings were a tad hurt after seeing the pictures.  To make a long story short we found out who created the page and all the students who either commented or created the pages have been punished.  It just blows my mind that we have a generation out there who can be so hurtful and disrespectful as some of these kids were.  And towards adults no less!  I swear all I can think about is the fact that this whole situation reminds me of Mean Girls and their Burn Book.  I just hope they've learned that you shouldn't say mean and hurtful things about anyone, especially on social media.  I did have a few students who came and apologized for some of the things they saw written about me and many of them asked if I was "ok" throughout the day on Wednesday.  So I'm happy that this generation isn't a complete loss!  The majority of them are pretty dang good.

******

To say I'm glad to say goodbye to the week is understatement.  There are only 5 weeks left until Spring Break and I am counting down the days!

Have a great Friday friends!  See ya Monday!

Linking up for Oh Hey Friday and a fun new link up with a fun new blogger I just found!

I love the Throne of Glass series! It's so good! And yeah, kids can be mean and cruel and in my opinion it all comes back to parenting. If I ever did something like that, I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week. When kids aren't taught to respect their parents, things like that happen. I'm sorry you had to experience something like that :(

Oh dear, your #5 is so upsetting! I couldn't even believe what I was reading. I'm sorry you had to go through that. :( I remember the middle school years being tough ones. There is so much maturing after those years, you know? (Hopefully haha)! You shouldn't take any of their hurtful words seriously, because from what I can tell as a new reader of your blog, you seem wonderful and super genuine! :)

I can't believe that happened to you at work. I am so so sorry. I hope you can refresh and reset this weekend and go into next week with your head held high!

I used to work at Marshalls, and they get the BEST furniture! It's really a steal and great quality stuff. I'm so sorry about the students..what a bunch of jerks. I hope you don't take any of that personally. Middle school just sucks! Thank you for joining our linkup and I hope you have a fantastic, relaxing weekend.

oh girl i am SO sorry about what happened at school. that is horrible. i can't believe kids these days, though i am sure our teachers thought the same about us and so forth. though i am very glad we didn't have the internet when i was a teenager!! i really am sorry. my husband is a teacher and although he teaches special ed, he got rid of his facebook. he has instagram but never uses it, and i just post all the things for us and our families, but he had to get rid of it because of the parents, not the kids. but anyway. rambling.

i LOVED throne of glass. please update me when you have read the first, then the second... then the third.. and the fourth. HAHA. seriously. i haven't read the prequels because I am weird about short stories until a series is finished - i had one ruin something for me once and it annoyed me to no end. so i don't read them until the end now. but anyway. not kidding, let me know when you have read the book(s) and tell me your thoughts. i hope that is not too creepy hahaha.

thank you so much for linking up with Gretch and I! hope next week is better at school.

Those chairs, I loooove. I wish I had a chance to have my own girly apartment before I had to share with an opinionated boy. I can't believe that about those kids. Or I guess I can, we had kids secretly videoing teachers at my old (elementary) school and posting them on you tube making fun of them. The lack of respect these days is appalling.

I'm so sorry that your kids did that to all the teachers at the school! I don't understand how they can't see how hurtful their comments are to others. I mean, it has to be happening to them too, right? I'm glad that some of them came back and apologized to you though! At least there's hope, like you said!
On to the good stuff you talked about, I'm so glad that you got your business cards created, I know you were wondering what to do about them a few weeks ago. I also love the chairs you found! They're so cute! And I seriously need to get on the Throne of Glass bandwagon! I know I'll love them as soon as I start reading them!
